AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY / FILMMAKING
AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEO IN COSTA RICA
Christopher Alga produces aerial photography and video in Costa Rica for editorial, commercial and documentary assignments. Drone, helicopter or small-plane coverage is selected according to the location, required perspective and production brief.
Aerial images connect landscape, infrastructure and human activity, adding scale and geographic context to a story. Local production knowledge supports planning around light, weather and access.

Aerial perspective with editorial purpose
Christopher Alga produces aerial photography and video throughout Costa Rica, combining local knowledge with a documentary eye.
Assignments are planned around the story, location and intended use, from editorial features and conservation work to hospitality, architecture and brand campaigns.
Why aerial coverage matters
Aerial imagery establishes scale, geography and context. It can reveal how a building meets its surroundings, how a coastline changes, or how a landscape functions as a whole.
The result is useful, accurate imagery with a clear visual point of view.
Aerial video with movement and context
Professional aerial video adds scale and continuity to a visual story. Coverage is planned for the final format, whether the work is intended for broadcast, a documentary, a campaign or a destination film.
- Stabilized 4K drone footage
- Helicopter and small-plane sequences
- Architecture, hospitality and property films
- Landscape, conservation and environmental coverage
- Aerial and ground-based production for cohesive short films
Light, weather, access and flight conditions are assessed before the shoot so the footage feels natural and purposeful.
Technical & Artistic Approach
Aerial work in Costa Rica demands a careful balance between stability, light, and perspective. I use advanced stabilization systems, ND filters, and fast shutter speeds to ensure sharp, vibrant imagery, even in strong tropical light.
Inspired by the work of artists like Georg Gerster, I aim to make every aerial image both informative and beautiful, a mix of technical precision and emotional storytelling.

How It Works
- Project Consultation: We define the story, locations, required viewpoints, intended use and still or video deliverables
- Flight Planning: Access, airspace, permissions, weather and aircraft availability are assessed for the proposed locations before coverage is confirmed
- Shooting Day: Drone, helicopter or small plane is selected according to access, scope and flight conditions. The schedule may change with weather or visibility
- Editing & Post-Production: Image selection, color correction, video editing
- Delivery: Selected photographs and edited footage are delivered in the formats and usage terms agreed in the brief
Can aerial and ground coverage be combined?
Yes. Aerial views can be planned alongside travel and cultural stories, architecture photography or documentary assignments so the photographs and footage work as one story.
Is aerial coverage available at every location?
Coverage depends on the specific site, access, permissions, airspace and conditions on the day. Share the exact locations and required perspectives early so feasibility and alternatives can be assessed before the shoot.
