Shooting in Rainy Tropical Conditions. While photographing in Costa Rica, I quickly learned that rain is frequent and unpredictable. On one assignment, I struggled to keep my cameras dry during sudden downpours, which threatened to ruin important shots.

In my experience, using simple protective solutions like zip-lock bags, rain covers, and even improvised raincoats is more effective than relying solely on expensive gear. Being prepared allows you to keep shooting despite wet conditions and capture moments others might miss.

My advice? Embrace the rain and plan for it. Based on my experience as a Costa Rica photographer, doing photography in Costa Rica is about adaptation and foresight. With the right protective measures, rain can become an opportunity rather than a limitation.
